- Resolution on Promotion of Fish Consumption
- We participants in the General Meeting of International Cooperative Fisheries Organization of the International Cooperative Alliance held at Pan Pacific Hotel & Resorts in Singapore on 16 November, 2006,
- Recognizing that in view of the outbreak of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, or ¡°mad cow disease¡±) incidents in the USA etc, people¡¯s interest in fish and fishery products elsewhere in the world has been increasing,
- Knowing that health benefits of fish and fishery products have been increasingly made clear by medical studies and widely recognized,
- Recognizing that fish consumption is said to have a lot to do with life longevity of people,
- Recognizing also that due to the health benefits of fish and fish products, demand for fish and fish products has increased and fish consumption has increased as well in many countries of the world including USA, China, and so forth,
- Recognizing that such increase of fish consumption is a welcome trend and Hoping that this trend should continue,
- Resolved as follows:
- 1.ICFO member organizations will make every effort to promote furthering of domestic fish consumption; and
- 2. For this purpose, ICFO member organizations will strengthen information exchange and cooperation including mutual visit.
