• Mr. Lee, ICFO chairman received the Rochdale Pioneer Prize.
  • Mr. Lee, ICFO chairman, received the Rochdale Pioneer Prize on 18 November in Cancun, Mexico where the 2012 ICA General Assembly was held.
  • This prize is presented to a person who greatly devoted to the development of cooperatives around the world once every 2 years. It was established at 2011 Seoul General Assembly.
  • Mr. Lee became the chairman of ICFO in November, 2009.
  • He established the World Fisheries Cooperative Day and held the 1st anniversary with “the Fisheries Cooperators’ Pledge the Fishermen of the World” in Seoul, Korea. He realized the cooperative spirit by publishing the Korean Fisheries Cooperatives’ Business Knowledge Sharing Program to share expertise and experiences of ICFO members which was highly assessed by Charles Gould, ICA Director-General.
  • He also donated personal computers and fishing equipment to ICFO members for the development of fisheries cooperatives.
  • He always asserts that the best way to raise fishermen’s welfare is an education. In order to realize his belief, he invited 12 fisheries cooperators and fishermen from the Philippines in 2011. They had a chance to learn about the experiences of the Korean fisheries cooperatives and fishing industry.
  • This prize means that ICA recognized his accomplishments and efforts for the cooperatives around the world.
  • It will surely strengthen his contribution to ICFO.
