- The First "World Fisheries Cooperative Day"
- The first World Fisheries Cooperative Day was held by International Fisheries Cooperative Organisation (ICFO) and Korea National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (KNFC) on 16 June, 2011 with 258 participants ; ICA Director-General, ICFO representatives, minister of ministry of food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, a national assembly member, government officials, experts of cooperative and presidents of member fisheries cooperatives in Korea, etc.
- It became a great opportunity to strengthen and sympathize with the theme of anniversary ¡°Sharing expertise and experience for the future fisheries¡± at the time of a great change in fisheries. It is expected to raise a public awareness about cooperatives with the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives declared by United Nations.
- At the event, Mr. Uemura shoji, president Aomori Prefectural Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations, was awarded the first ¡°World Fisheries Cooperator Prize¡±. ICFO and KNFC established a Selection Committee for the prize.
- ICFO and KNFC also adopted ¡°The Fisheries Cooperators' Pledge to the Fishermen of the World¡± to improve the quality of fishermen's lives and to build a brighter future for fisheries worldwide.
